# Introduction to Elements in Microsoft Word Reports

### General

Elements can be used to add content to a [Template](/release35/docs/templates-4) when a report document is created from the report.

          
          

> **Example:** If you want to add a bar chart from a [Datasource](/release35/docs/introduction-2) to a report document, you can use a [Chart Element](/release35/docs/chart-elements-2) and reference it within the [Template](/release35/docs/templates-4).

### Element Types

Microsoft Word Reports support the following element types:

| Name | header |
| --- | --- |
| [Chart Element](/release35/docs/chart-elements-2) | This type of element can be used to insert the graphical visualization of a chart (e.g. a bar chart) of a Datasource](/release35/docs/introduction-2) into the report document. |
| [Condition Element](/release35/docs/condition-elements-4) | This type of element can be used to only include the portion of a [Template](/release35/docs/templates-4) (such as specific rows or worksheets) in the report document based on a condition. |
| [Expression Element](/release35/docs/expression-elements-3) | This type of element can be used to insert the result (such as a numeric, text, or date-time value) of an [Expression](/release35/docs/introduction-28) into the report document. |
| [Image Element](/release35/docs/image-elements-3) | This type of element can be used to insert an external image that is loaded from a local or UNC file path or web URL into the report document. |
| [Repeater Element](/release35/docs/repeater-elements-3) | This type of element can be used to repeat the portion of a [Template](/release35/docs/templates-4) in the report document. |
| [Table Element](/release35/docs/table-elements-4) | This type of element can be used to insert a table extracted from a [Datasource](/release35/docs/introduction-2) object into the report document. |
