# Execute Code

### General

This type of action can be used to execute code (e.g. a method contained in a [Global Module](/release36/docs/global-modules) or a [Module](/release36/docs/modules) of a [Report](/release36/docs/introduction-to-reports).

### Properties

This type of action has the following properties:

| Name | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Code | An [Expression](/release36/docs/introduction-to-mail-and-deploy-expressions) that contains the code to be executed. |

### Example

Suppose you have created a [Global Module](/release36/docs/global-modules) that contains a function named *WriteDebugFile*; that function takes a single string parameter and writes that string to a file in the file system. The following [Expression](/release36/docs/introduction-to-mail-and-deploy-expressions) can be used to call that function to write the string *Hello World* to a file:
